Quilting – Learn to Bind – Machine & Hand Binding Techniques

If you’ve ever struggled with finishing the edges of your quilt, this class will help you learn to bind with confidence!

Join Sharon for a hands-on class where you’ll learn both machine and hand binding techniques for achieving a neat, professional-looking finish on your quilts. Whether you’re new to binding or want to improve your technique, Sharon will share tips and guidance to help you feel more comfortable with this important final step of quilt making.

Class Details

Cost: $15.00 + tax per person (materials not included)

What to Bring:

• Sewing machine in good working order
• Hand-sewing needles
• Thread
• Ruler
• Rotary cutter and cutting mat
• A current project that needs binding, or practice fabric

Class Preparation

Your quilt/project should be quilted and ready for binding before class.

1. Trim your project to its finished size.
2. Measure the total perimeter of your quilt.
3. Cut enough 2½" strips, WOF (width of fabric) to go around your quilt, adding approximately 18–20" to the total perimeter measurement.
4. If you know how to join binding strips with a mitered seam, please have your strips joined and pressed in half wrong sides together, creating a 1¼" wide double-fold binding strip.
5. Bring your prepared binding to class along with your quilt.

If you are not comfortable joining your binding strips, don't worry - we can help you with this during class.
