Description
Ready to take the fear out of free motion quilting? This class is recommended for beginners who have never tried free motion quilting or are struggling to get the hang of it on their own. If you think you can’t do it, I believe I can change your mind!
You’ll learn the basics of free motion quilting in a supportive, hands-on environment designed to build your confidence. Whether you’re looking to finish your own quilts or simply want to try something new, this class will help you develop control, technique, and comfort at the machine.
Bring your enthusiasm—and let’s stitch outside the lines!
All machine makes and models are welcome!
Class Details
Cost: The class fee is just $60 per person + materials (see below)
Materials:
- Piece of fabric for quilt center 15" x 15”
- Border fabric -2 strips 3 ½” x Width of Fabric
- Backing 20” x 20”
- Batting 20” x 20”
- 2 Quilt Sandwiches for practise 12" x 12” (including front back and batting sandwiched together and basted
- Sewing machine in good working order- please bring your machine manual
- A free motion foot (this must fit your machine), a walking foot, ¼” foot
- Lower feed dog function on your machine- a must
- Decorative Threads in various colours 50 wt and 40wt. Polyester, rayon or cotton
- Bobbins
- Machine Quilting needles (a variety pack of sizes recommended)
- 505 quilt basting spray or quilters basting pens
- A notebook/paper, pencil and a black thin sharpie marker
- Erasable fabric marking pen- Blue Washout recommended
- Chaco liner (optional)
- Sketch book to audition designs recommended
- Rotary cutter, Cutting mat , 6" x 24” ruler, scissors
- Your lunch
- A willingness to have fun!
