This beautifully crafted Sweet Bag holds some treasures. When I went to call this a sweet bag I only had a vague notion of it meant, upon looking this up it seemed appropriate. Sweet bags were produced during the Elizabethan period and often given as gifts; as in a sweet scented bag or used as a gift bag holding such things as gold coins. These bags were stitched with tent, double running, gobelin, couching and detached buttonhole stitches and were mostly filled in on the linen, ground not leaving any showing. This then is not a sweet bag in the Elizabethan sense but rather a gift bag. An emery pin cushion, a bottle cap pin cushion and a coin scissor fob.Type of Product: Needle Art Charts & Kits
